Rest in Peace to a true Hip Hop Pioneer – Collins Leysath aka DJ ready Red
Collins “DJ Ready Red” Leysath passed away shocking those who knew and loved Real Hip Hop music. On the Murder Master Music Show, Red was more than a guest he was a real friend. He Co-Hosted episodes with us on occasion, participated in many classic Round Tables and was always available to give us advice. We grew up listening to the sounds of the Musical Enforcer, he was the first to make Tony Montana sing on a record, his production gave the Ghetto-Geto Boys the unique sound they needed to break down barriers in Hip Hop and helped show the world that the South meant serious business.
We always loved to have Red on with others because his personality just flowed with the show no matter who it was, but when he was on with people he knew it was incredible! One of the dopest moments in our show’s history is when Red and Bushwick reminisced about the early days of the Geto Boys. Just hearing these two laugh, recall fond memories, and kick game was priceless.
Other dope moments were when we recently had him on along with Sire Juke Boxx and Prince Johnny C to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Making Trouble. He will always be recognized by us and we will always think of him as a Pioneer but most importantly a friend! We are proud that we were one of the few outlets to recognize his brilliance while he was here. We are honored that we were able to tell him directly how much he meant to the world of Hip Hop. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and fans around the globe! #ripdjreadyred
