Reviews – Dead Walkers – LIFEB4DEATH The EP

One of the only complaints that I have about this project is that it is only an EP.But it does have 9 tracks, which back in the day that would be considered a full length album. LIFEB4DEATH by the Dead Walkers outta Utah kicks shit off the right way with a song about wanting your rivals to rest in piss called Pray For My Enemies. It reminds me of something you would want to play before you go knuckle up against someone you really wanna beat the shit outta! Then it goes right into another evil sounding song You Out Here. This is that f’n Wicket Shit!

What I like about it is everything flows together. I’m not a real big fan outta Mars but the song Across the Nation features him and the legendary Mastamind which actually turns out to be a good collab. Mars is on a couple tracks, other features include Polk D, Nuttinxnyce, Moka Only, C-Rayz Walz, Atdaggersdrawn, Tha Jokaz, & Sarkaztik.

The beats are all Wicket, very dark evil sounding shit. Production on here was done by Dre40oz, Detour, Strik9, Brown Ceasar, Raw Diddie and VTZ so you have a whole variety of different producers on here and somehow they all captured a consistent sound together. Usually to do that you would just use the same producer, you could tell alotta time was put into this project.

I also enjoyed the song Angelic Noose because it is one of the more mellow tracks on here, and that gives you an idea of the range they got. I would have to say my favorite cut on the album is Comatose. The beat has all kinds of shit in it from dope guitar to piano. Yeah they can do the horrorcore dark stuff but they can also hit you with some pure Hip Hop as well. The production, features, and direction on this project were dope, I look forward to the next Dead Walkers release!
