Reviews-Point Blank-No Money No Reason
Point Blank has been on the scene since the early 1990s and I first heard him
on the Terrorists album “Terror Strikes” back in ’91 and the following year he
dropped his debut solo album “Prone 2 Bad Dreams” on Big Tyme Records which was
the same camp that brought you the late DJ Screw, PSK-13, 20-2-Life, UGK, and
Blanks group with PSK-13 and Ice Lord, Wreckless Klan to name a few!
No Money No Reason is Blank’s first studio album in many years, although he has
been droppin’ mixtapes, this is an actual album, a doulbe album at that and it is
packed full of hardcore street shit, substance, some tracks for the club, but this
is definitely packed full of reality, grown folk music, and tons of great features.
Before we get into some of the tracks lets go down the list of features, which in
itself is insane! You got the SPC all up and down this motherfucker with of course
K-Rino, PSK-13, Klondike Kat, then you got the likes of Da Mafia 6ix, Lil Flip,
Bun-B, Big Pokey, Lil Keke, Mo City Don(Z-Ro), and many others.
I also love the production of this project because Blank used several producers
including Bionik, Philly Phil, and DS2 to name a few. I love albums with a wide
variety of production and this double album had over 10 producers on it.
Some of my favorite tracks include Purging which is as hard as you can get. Then
you got an SPC anthem called Respect featuring PSK-13, K-Rino, and Klondike Kat.
I love this track because Respect is something that is lacking in the game and they
are letting it be known who put it down for others to be able to do it. Destiny is like
a testimonial track where Blank describes his struggles and as always Blank gives the
listeners a look into his personal life. To me that is what makes the best rappers,
the ability to allow the fans in for a closer look.
I could go on and on, but there is 16 tracks on disc one and 12 tracks on disc 2 and
both of them are packed full of heat! This is what all fans of REAL RAP have been
waiting for. I was very pleased with No Money No Reason!
There is also another version of the album with Michael 5000 Watts
Watts takes 15 tracks from the Double Disc Set and does his thing. Look out for
Purging, Ova, Destiny and much more as this compliments the original project.
Over all you can’t go wrong and need both projects. I am a huge Blank fan and
have been over the years, I promise you wont be disappointed. If you are sick of
music filled with SWAG and having a lack of substance and honesty then this is
the album for you. -Prezident Bejda
